A multidisciplinary approach is important for safe and effective weight loss, and more importantly, paramount for sustained weight management and long term good health.
The Dietitians and Exercise Physiologists work to educate, support and structure a weight loss program based on individual requirements, ensuring medical conditions and/or physical limitations are taken into consideration. The team accurately measure the body’s caloric expenditure at complete rest (Resting Metabolic Rate, RMR) via a gas analysis test. Current physical activity levels are measured and together with RMR, accurately determine the body’s energy expenditure per day.
The Exercise Physiologist, with the patient’s input, plans a suitable physical activity schedule and daily caloric expenditure goal. The Dietitian uses this information and other educational tools to personally prescribe a suitable calorie controlled meal plan, required for safe and sustainable weight loss.
