Workplace Rehabilitation & Return To Work SA

AEP is Return To Work SA accredited to undertake rehabilitation services.

The difference between AEP and typical commercial gymnasiums is that all AEP staff are Accredited Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists and Accredited Practising Dietitians ensuring they have relevant clinical experience. The clinic facilities are custom built and set up specifically for rehabilitative purposes; ensuring patients can undertake their required services in a comfortable and professional setting.

Workplace Injury Rehabilitation

The first stage of AEP's Workplace Injury Rehabilitation Service is to undertake a range of functional assessments to evaluate an injured workers physical strength and conditioning levels. Assessments are required for the development of a physical conditioning program and ultimately to determine the readiness of a safe return to work for the employee. All assessments conducted are research based and reproducible to ensure continuity when employees are re-assessed. A typical functional assessment will assess the following:

  • Muscle length & range of motion
  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Posture
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Body composition
  • Safe lifting techniques

After the functional assessments, an individually tailored rehabilitation plan is developed and implemented accordingly. Ongiong guidance, support and progression is then provided to the injured worker as personally required to achieve the best outcome.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

AEP are staffed with Workhab accredited Functional Capacity Evaluators and can therefor perform functional capacity evaluations according to the WorkHab protocol. WorkHab’s Functional Capacity Evaluation Systems is an assessment designed to determine an individual’s capacity for work, and matching an employee to suitable job related tasks via obtaining objective physical information. WorkHab Protocol assesses the following:

  • Strength
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Postural tolerance testing
  • Safe manual handling
  • Endurance lifting
  • Safe maximal lifting
  • Safe maximal carrying loads
  • Job simulated task testing

Assessments are conducted at the Woodville Park Clinic, with the option of onsite assessments if required. Each assessment is 4hrs in duration. Physical Conditioning Programs AEP WorkHealth are not limited to simply assessing patients.

AEP WorkHealth have four purposely built rehabilitation clinics across metropolitan Adelaide with each clinic staffed with Accredited Exercise Physiologists. This ensures continuity in the physical rehabilitation process from functional assessment to return to employment.

With a large range of resistance and aerobic based equipment, programs commence with intensive one on one sessions, and progress to cost effective small group supervised sessions. At the completion of the physical conditioning program, final assessments are conducted to determine the readiness of safe return to work.
