Evidence Based Weight Loss/Management

weight loss

AEP’s specialised weight management service is conducted by our Exercise Physiologists and Dietitians. They adopt a multidisciplinary, research-based approach to weight loss for the greater Adelade area. This approach is personalised like no other service by initially measuring your Resting Metabolic Rate and offers the most safe and reliable way to lose weight, improve your health and most importantly maintain your healthy weight in the long term.

Although your primary goal may be weight loss, AEP also consider your medical background and physical ability when formulating a plan. This ensures your dietary requirements and exercise level will not negatively impact on other areas of your health and wellbeing eg. joint pain, diabetic control and mental health.

Weight Loss Service Outline:

AEP tailor a weight loss service to your personal requirements. We do this by accurately measuring your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and your current physical activity energy expenditure to calculate your personal current calorie requirements. This accurate data is used, taking into consideration your personal health requirements, to guide the prescription of a meal plan and physical activity schedule. This will result in safe, sustainable weight loss that is suitable, realistic and most importantly healthy. AEP’s weight loss service requires four standard initial visits to complete. After this, services are accessed as personally required and vary depending on factors such as medical history complexity, motivation levels, progress and adherence. Four visit service.

What is Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR):

RMR is a measure of how many calories you would burn if you were to do nothing but rest for 24 hours. RMR represents the minimum amount of energy required to keep your body functioning, including your heart beating, lungs breathing, and body temperature normal. Because resting metabolic rates vary greatly between individuals, it is imperative to know what this personal measure is before effective individual weight loss focused meal plans and physical activity schedules can be prescribed.
