Reuben-IndividualReuben Vanderzalm, Accredited Exercise Physiologist / Director

Reuben is one of the two directors at AEP, of which was established in 2006. He has over 10 years’ experience as an exercise physiologist in a variety of clinical settings including the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s Centre for Physical Activity in Ageing, numerous GP clinics and private practice.
Reuben actively maintains links with Adelaide’s Medicare Locals and attends regular conferences and workshops both interstate and locally to ensure AEP services and practices are of the highest professional standard.
Reuben enjoys the variety of assisting patients suffering from any one or combination of chronic conditions. He has worked extensively with patients in the areas of obesity and mental health, and has an interest in diabetes prevention and management.

Chris is one of the directors of AEP Health Group with over 16 years experience as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Commencing his career in 1996 at RAH’s Centre for Physical Activity in Aging, he was responsible for cardiac and stroke rehabilitation programs until 2006 when he established AEP Health Group with Reuben Vanderzalm. Chris has extensive knowledge in exercise therapy as a mode of treatment for patients suffering from various chronic conditions, functional assessments and musculoskeletal injuries.
Chris leads AEP Health Group Workhealth division with particular interest in health assessments and rehabilitation following work related injuries and work hardening programs. Chris has also worked extensively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons in the establishment of health and lifestyles programs. Chris was nominated in 2011 for recognition of a non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, for his contribution to the community.

Sara has been working in chronic disease management since completing university in 2006 and has developed a wealth of experience in many clinical conditions. Sara has a passion for helping people especially in areas of weight loss and bariatric surgery. Her other speciality areas include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, osteoarthritis (OA) and joint replacement rehabilitation. Sara is a qualified lungs in action instructor and developed AEP’s pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Skye has been working at AEP since 2008. She has had extensive experience working with a wide variety of clients with chronic health conditions. Skye has experience working in GP clinics, home and private consulting environment. Skye’s friendly and understanding nature allows her to communicate effectively with a wide variety of cliental. As well as helping others, she has a keen interest in maintaining her own health and fitness. She has represented Australia in the Age Group World Triathlon Championships in 2009 and again in 2012. Skye co-manages the Noarlunga Clinic.
Clinically, Skye has a keen interest in chronic fatigue management, exercise pre and post bariatric surgery, Type II Diabetic management and exercise prescription to assist couples in the area of fertility and pregnancy.

Thomas has been employed with AEP since May 2009. Prior to this he completed clinical training at the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre where he gained experience with patients with multiple chronic diseases and co-morbidities.

Predominantly working from the Woodville clinic Thomas regularly consults with new patients to educate them on the importance of regular structured activity and the impact this has on improving one’s health. With a broad experience in multiple co-morbidities, patients can be assured that a tailored exercise plan can be developed for use in clinic or at home.

Thomas specialises in areas of diabetes management and prevention, musculoskeletal assessment and ongoing rehabilitation. He has a keen interest in assisting patients with weight management and as such has co developed AEP’s medically based weight loss service.

Caelum-Individual-ST-MARYS-32Caelum Schild, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Caelum has been working at AEP Health Group since the beginning of 2010. Over this period of time he has gained a broad range of clinical experience from the Royal Adelaide Hospital, GP clinics and private practice. His friendly and positive nature are strengths when educating patients about exercise and their health.

Caelum manages AEP’s Edwardstown clinic, where he consults and facilitates supervised group sessions for patients with numerous chronic conditions. He is also a Program Director of The Wellness Assistant, a complete online solution that sets new standards in workforce health and wellness.

Clinically, Caelum has worked extensively with patients in the areas of type 2 diabetes, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and cancer rehabilitation. He has a special interest in weight management, cardio-metabolic conditions, dysautonomia and has co developed AEP’s medically based weight loss service.

Caelum has completed additional training in the field of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and is using this to successfully help patients guide their own exercise prescription and identify systemic health trends for optimal outcomes. This is a crucial tool, particularly for patients with dysautonomic conditions.

Keith has been employed with AEP since May 2011. Prior to this he completed clinical training as an Exercise Therapist where he gained experience assisting patients with multiple chronic diseases and co-morbidities in both a gym and hydrotherapy environment.

Keith is the co-manager of the Noarlunga clinic and regularly consults with new patients to educate them on the importance of regular structured activity and the impact this has on improving one’s health. He has broad experience working with patients who have multiple co-morbidities, establishing tailored exercise plans that can be developed for use at home or in a clinical setting.

Keith has a special interest in workplace rehabilitation, aboriginal health, pre and post bariatric surgery consultations and sports specific testing and prescription for athletes.

Adam Browne, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Adam began working at AEP in 2014. He has completed his studies in Clinical Exercise Physiology where he specialised in Multiple Sclerosis rehabilitation and in Strength and Conditi

oning where he has developed a vast knowledge of exercise prescription in a variety of clientele from athletes to the elderly. Also currently working at the Central District Football Club as the conditioning coach he has experience in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
With a unique skill set AEP regard Adam as their "all-rounder". He enjoys working with patients suffering chronic conditions while also has a special interest and passion for sports testing and athlete conditioning. He is a friendly and positive individual who is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and to optimise quality of life.

Crista-Individual-ST-MARYS-31Crista Reid, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Crista is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who started working at AEP in 2014 after completing her studies at the University of Tasmania. Crista consults at both the Edwardstown and Noarlunga AEP clinics and also travels to treat Elderly Veterans in their own homes. Crista enjoys the challenge of keeping up to date with the latest research for treating a wide range of health conditions.

 

Aside from working with patients who have more common conditions such as Osteoporosis, injury rehabilitation, Obesity, chronic pain and mental health disorders, Crista has also had experience working with children with disabilities, amputees, gait disorders and stroke. Crista has done additional studies in assessing, educating and prescribing exercises for patients with Lung disease such as; COPD, Lung Cancer, Heart failure, Pulmonary Fibrosis and Asthma. Crista initiated the Lungs in Action programs across both of AEPs Southern clinics.

Sam has been employed at AEP Health Group since the beginning of 2016. Prior to this, working as an Exercise Scientist, Sam gained experience working with a number of clients of a range of fitness levels and goals.

Sam has a special interest in treating patients with chronic pain, workplace injuries and cancer rehabilitation. Outside of AEP, Sam also coaches Powerlifting and has a great interest in strength and conditioning.

Tom Adler, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Tom started with AEP at the beginning of 2018 after being a stand-out during his 5 week placement with AEP in 2017 through the University of South Australia.

Throughout Tom’s clinical placements he was able to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience working with a range of clients with chronic conditions and injuries. His placements included working in a commercial gym, which also provided the use of hydrotherapy as a rehabilitation service as well as working in an aged care residential home.

Tom’s friendly and easy-going personality allows him to build great client rapport and trust whilst providing assistance in prescribing suitable exercise programs. Tom is passionate in helping clients to reach their health and fitness goals allowing them to improve their overall quality of life as well as motivating them to create long term exercise habits.

Eliza Inglis, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Eliza started working at AEP in the middle of 2018 after previously growing her clinical skills independently in the Barossa region.

Eliza has a special interest in weight management, metabolic concerns and women's health. She specifically enjoys researching further into Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and the benefits of appropriate exercise as management. Eliza prides herself in providing a holistic, client centred and individualised approach to each treatment plan. She is passionate about working with each individual to ensure their treatment plan fits their lifestyle and SMART goals.

Sidney Vanderzalm, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Sidney began with AEP at the beginning of 2019 after completing her placement with AEP through the University of South Australia in 2018.

Her friendly and understanding nature allows her to build great rapport and to assist with a large range of co-morbidities. She is passionate about optimising quality of life and is an advocate for implementing enjoyable activity into daily life.

Sidney enjoys helping and motivating patients with a combination of chronic conditions and has an interest in assisting people to create a lifestyle that improves their physical and mental health.

Eleni Trikaliotis, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Eleni began working at AEP Health Group in 2019 after completing her studies through the University of South Australia.

Eleni has gained clinical experience and knowledge throughout her placements in private practice, GP clinics and rehabilitation centres in 2018. 

Eleni is dedicated to delivering a client-centred service that promotes movement based treatment for the effective management of a wide range of medical and psychological conditions. Eleni's gentle and patient nature assists clients to reach their goals in a non-judgemental and trusting environment.

Karen Winters, Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Karen commenced working with AEP mid-2019 after completing her studies through the University of South Australia in 2018.

Karen has gained clinical experience through placements in private practice, aged care and rehabilitation clinics. She believes in working with patients to enable them to achieve their best. Karen uses movement and exercise to effectively manage a wide range of medical conditions to improve function and quality of life.

Dietitians

Matt started working at AEP in 2016. He has experience working in a clinical and private practice environment. In addition, Matt has several years experience in clinical research in intensive care at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Matt is strong advocate for individualised dietary lifestyle changes to improve overall health and wellbeing with sustained weight loss rather than fad diets. Matt has a particular interest in obesity and weight management, diet control of diabetes and weight maintenance in cancer patients.

Matt has completed his accreditation in Sports Nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport and is an Accredited Sports Dietitian with Sports Dietitians Australia. Matt is currently the Sports Dietitian for the Adelaide United Youth team providing individual nutrition performance advice in addition to recommendations for team game day and training nutrition. Matt also provides sports nutrition advice to Central Districts Football Club in the team and individual setting and has previously worked with the Adelaide Crows. Matt has experience in nutrition and hydration for before, during and after exercise with a particular interest in endurance sports and team sports. Matt also has experience in providing sports nutrition education sessions to amateur sporting teams and clubs.

Matt continues to further his skills and knowledge in the area of nutrition and dietetics through involvement in the DAA continued professional development program.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science, Master of Dietetics, Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist, Accredited Sports Dietitian.

 

Mattea Palombo - Accredited Practising Dietitian

Mattea started working at AEP in 2018. She works four days per week across three locations - Noarlunga, Edwardstown and Woodville Park. Mattea has five years experience working within the hospital and community dietetic setting. Mattea is extremely passionate about helping people improve their lifestyles through healthy eating and exercise. She believes in balanced healthy eating, eating from all the five food groups and not restricting any types of foods but rather eating everything in moderation.

In addition to working at AEP, Mattea works for a not for profit organisation where she runs cooking classes with school aged children. Mattea is passionate about weight management, nutrition in the elderly and diabetes management. She also has experience with patients who have bowel issues such as IBS. 

Mattea has completed her Sports Nutrition course at the Australian Institute of Sport and has completed a Masters in Public Health (Public Health Nutrition) at Flinders University.

Mattea practices what she educates her patients about. She keeps fit through both cardio exercise and weight training. She partakes in triathlons and eats in line with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. She believes in tailoring nutrition goals to each individual.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Master of Public Health (Public Health Nutrition), Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist, Sports Nutrition Certificate.

Kaitlin Ellis - Accredited Practising Dietitian

Kaitlin started working at AEP in 2019. She has experience as both a hospital and community Dietitian. Kaitlin believes there is not a one size fits all approach to healthy eating, and believes it is important that all advice should be tailored to individuals based on their social, emotional and nutritional needs. She is a strong advocate for sustainable healthy eating patterns, and no quick fix fad diets.

Kaitlin has a particular interest in obesity and weight management, diabetes management, cardiovascular disease, malnutrition and food intolerances/allergies including IBS and coeliac disease. She is passionate about working with her clients to reach their own personal goals, helping to build sustainable healthy eating and lifestyle changes.

Physiotherapists

David Sadauskas - PhysiotherapistWebDavidSPhoto

David completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 2014. For the first two years after graduating he has worked in hospital, aged care, and private musculoskeletal practice settings in the Riverland. Working in such a diverse setting has given him a great understanding of a vast range of clinical presentations in all age-groups.

 

Starting in 2017 at AEP's Ridgehaven and Woodville clinics, David is keen to see people of any health status reach their full function by reducing pain and facilitating movement with his wide range of treatment methods. More recently David has taken to the study of persistent pain conditions and is well versed in education and treatment of these complex pain-states. His greatest passion is to see chronic pain sufferers gain control of their pain and remove it altogether.

 

Out of the clinic room David pursues time outside in nature, enjoying rock-climbing and bouldering, hiking and camping, photography, motorsport, music and being involved in his local church. Most of all he enjoys the art of conversation, getting to know people and ensuring their treatment is both helpful and enjoyable.

Amanda Sadauskas - Physiotherapist

Amanda completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 2014. Since graduating, she has worked in private practice in the Riverland, Barossa, Grange and the Adelaide Hills.

 

Amanda really enjoys the diversity that comes with private practice work and loves helping people understand their conditions so they can move toward their goals with confidence. Her key areas of interest are chronic pain and injury rehabilitation. She has recently completed professional development in the areas of workplace injury and modern pain management, where impacts of ongoing pain on the person and their life are realised and addressed.

 

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys road-tripping, hiking and camping fuelled by a nice strong coffee. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Leander Pronk - Physiotherapist

Leander joined the AEP team in 2019, working at the two Southern clinics. His journey started in 2005 when he entered the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam, and four years later graduated as a Physiotherapist. In the following years, he followed on to complete two Masters programs.

Leander was warmly welcomed to our multi-disciplinary team, sharing the same values as we do. These include providing high quality, patient centred, evidence-based care in a welcoming and friendly manner. Leander's goal orientated approach, with patient shared decision making has been a greatly received part of our team.

If you need help with any musculoskeletal or spine related problems (acute or persistent) or a sports related injury, he will be more than happy to help and guide you to recovery.

Tanya has excellent administration experience in numerous allied health professional settings, Tanya’s skill set lends itself perfectly to AEP’s “behind the scene” matters. Tanya is the office manager and plays an important role in developing administrative procedures to ensure AEP’s business systems are effective, efficient and most importantly up to date with an ever evolving health system.
