Osteoporosis is multifactorial and therefore best treated collaboratively. In conjunction with clients medical practitioners, an Exercise Physiologist and Dietitian, can assist with treatment of osteoporosis in a bid to prevent the progression of the condition.

Dietitians conduct one on one consults to assess a patient’s dietary intake to ensure it is nutritionally adequate to support and benefit treatment. Personalised plans are then developed based on patients short and long term health needs.

An Exercise Physiologist will assess a patient’s physical and functional capacity before developing an exercise plan to assist with maintaining function, reducing the risk of falls and safely loading the skeletal system. Each prescribed program will be developed following best treatment guidelines and include a combination of weight bearing, resistance and balance exercises. Exercise programs can be clinic based, home based or a combination of both.
