In 2018 Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) was the fifth leading cause of death in Australia.
Regular exercise results in favourable improvements to oxygen utilisation, work capacity, breathlessness, strength, anxiety and quality of life in people with COPD.
Our experienced team of Exercise Physiologists assist clients with COPD on a daily basis and oversee the COPD education and exercise programs that are conducted at AEP. The Exercise Physiologists use heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels to modify and adjust the exercise intensity and duration to meet personal capabilities.
In addition to individual COPD education and exercise program development, AEP conduct daily supervised exercise sessions from their private stand alone clinic facilities.
The Dietitian team can offer patient support via dietary analysis and individualised meal plans, if it is determined that dietary changes will improve the efficiency of the oxygen delivery systems.
The Physiotherapy team can offer support via injury management services if specific injuries are restricting a client’s ability to move or exercise.
