Healthy lifestyle changes are an integral part of the cardiac rehabilitation process and can help prevent future complications as well as improve quality of life.
An Exercise Physiologist will prescribe an appropriate exercise program, importantly considering type, duration and intensity. A Dietitian will conduct one on one consultations to form a personalised plan to help prevent the progression of heart disease, and provide education on heart healthy food choices.
The AEP cardiac rehabilitation program is ideal for those patients who have recently completed a stage-2 hospital based program, or those who are greater than six weeks post-operative or have one of the following heart conditions:
- Post-operative coronary artery bypass graft
- Post myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- Valve replacement
- Post pacemaker and/or defibrillator insertion
- Ischaemic heart disease
- Unstable angina
- Arrhythmias
- Cardiomyopathy
- Heart failure or any other cardiac related condition
